MONSTER'S BRIDE


There's a long precedent in folklore and myth of beautiful young people - both men and women - being kidnapped by monsters: dragons, beasts, goblins, demons, elves, vampires, wolves, or even evil humans. In the end, however, these prisoners are almost always rescued and brought back to civilization to live a normal and happy life.

But what if they didn't want to leave their jailor?

They've seen behind the surface and have begun to sympathize with this "monster;" no, more than that, they've fallen for them. Will this story have a happy ending? Will the monster believe that anyone could love them? Most importantly, though, can the two of them be left alone without any attempts at a "rescue?"

how to play
  • Comment with your character, your preference, and what role they'll play. Feel free to AU characters to your desired role.
  • Reply to others.
  • Thread anything that could remotely fit under the umbrella theme. Was the kidnapping just that, or did both parties know (and care) for each other before, making it a collaborative, mutual effort? Perhaps you'd prefer to play the actual Beauty and The Beast-style getting to know each other or seeing behind the grizzly facade. What about an attempted "rescue?" Or maybe you could thread out a scene where the prisoner runs away from the society they were forced back into and returns to their beloved beast! It's all up to you. You could even do smut if you wanted to, but this isn't a smut meme.

The virtual world follows a different set of rules. There, you can be what you want, do what you want, dress how you want — hell, you can even fly! With so many cool, fun options, why would anybody want to spend time in the boring real world? VR is right there! Strap on your headset and jump in!

Frost Fair

Frost fairs are festivals held on rivers that have frozen over during the winter, sometimes in conjunction with Christmas markets.


( how to play )
Top-level posters, please provide a few options as to what your character is doing at the fair. What type of booth are they running? What kind of performances might they engage in? 

Prompts:
1. Booths - The booths and vendors of the frost fair are one of the greatest draws of any festival. Warm food and steaming drinks can be bought, along with handcrafts and rare imports from across the realms. Plenty of fairy vendors are here, and one of them is creating little ice sculptures for sale upon request.
2. Performances - Plays and hand-puppets can be found throughout the fair, along with jugglers, acrobats, and all types of musicians. Be careful not to slip on the ice, if you're performing, unless that's part of your stunt!
3. Sled-races - If you're feeling competitive, there are several races to be had along the frozen course of the river! Find a sled, find someone (or something) to draw it for you, and join the race!
4. Ice-skating - Simple ice skates that can be strapped to the bottom of your boots are available at several stalls on the edges of the festival. 
5. Sleigh Rides - Sleighs led by reindeer stand waiting near the edges of the fair, ready to take you up the frozen river and out across the snowy landscape. Some of these reindeer even fly!
6. Within the Tents - There's a tent city spread out across the frozen city, with plenty of rugs and braziers to help warm you. Many of the tents are set up as conversational salons and artist studios. Rumor has it that a few of these luxurious tents are being run as brothels.
7. Snowball Fights - There are plenty of drifts about, if you would like to play in the snow, build a snow person, or just leap into the biggest drift you can find.
8. Ice Sculpting Contest - Try your hand at sculpture! There are large blocks of ice and tools available for anyone who would like to make an entry into the ice sculpting contest.
9. Frost Fairy Mischief - Some of the fairies at the festival are out and about with mischief. You might find your possessions frosted or your hair turned white as snow, or you yourself might begin to turn to ice! It's said that the only cure for frosty mischief is a kiss.
10. Wildcard! - All manner of wintry magic and fun can be found at the frost fair, if you so please.

8. Flashback Attack - Something happened that reminded you of your past, and for whatever reason, you feel compelled to share. Is it something serious? Or did that cloud just remind you of the time you fell on your ass at Disneyland?
9. Truth Serum - The literal kind, or just some social lubricant in the form of alcohol. Either way, you've taken something that's making you feel the need to open up about yourself, and maybe share something no one else knows about.

On average, one-third of the population has a tattoo, with one out of every four people having more than one tattoo. Once upon a time, this may have seemed aggressive or 'thuggish,' but nowadays, tattoos are a staple in most cultures. Tattoo shops can be found in cities across the globe, and the idea of body modifications becomes normalized by the day.

Time for your characters to hop on the bandwagon.


How to Play
  • Leave a top-level comment with which role you'd like for your character, and maybe a few ideas to get the ball rolling.
  • Reply to others and decide on a scenario to start.
  • Make magic happen!
    • Feel free to mix it up. Two tattoo artists grabbing coffee? Two best friends getting tattoos for the first time? An AU where tattoos mean something? We're here for all of it!

  1. first time - We all have to start somewhere. With any luck, your artist will be cool, kind, and totally reassuring throughout the whole process.

  2. tattoo therapy - Things are pretty weird right now, so a tattoo feels like a logical solution. It's more permanent than other coping mechanism, but it also looks a lot cooler.

  3. cursed!au - This tattoo isn't normal. It's dark, and it's bad, and it grows. Hopefully an artist might have some idea what to do about this, but don't hold you breath.

  4. killing time - It may surprise you to know that tattoos take a while, especially the big ones. It's not out of the ordinary to make small-talk with your artist. Or... big talk.

  5. something specific - You know exactly what you want done; you've got it all planned out. Now, you just need an artist to translate your words into art.

So, the world's ending and nobody knows about it. That's cool. It could be an impending nuclear meltdown, or aliens, or a meteor on a collision course with Earth. You know this is coming, but everyone else in the world is blissfully ignorant. And why would you want to ruin their peace? It's better to let them be happy.

Besides, you can pack a lot of shit in a couple of days.

Whether you're on a tropical vacation or you're not entirely sure why this thing is here at all, you've found the Star del Mar— a seemingly normal beach bar that's built just to get you into Situations. Come have a drink, and maybe end up somewhere you didn't mean to be.

This is meant to be a lighter fare meme for easy jump-ins and match-ups, but as always, putting some prefs in your toplevel will help others know what you're looking for.

  1. A Lover's Bar: You're here, and you're ready to drink. Probably.

But when you wake up, you're not at your beautiful bar anymore at all. Who in the world could hate kindness? Sweetness? Conscientiousness? All of us, on some level, like to be pampered and taken care of, from the most churlish to the most pleasant. Yes, even those grouchy grumps, or, of course, the cool-headed psychos -

Okay, maybe not all of us to the same degree.

Regardless of your disposition, somehow, you've gained a doting significant other. It seems like they find their greatest pleasure in taking care of and looking out for you. This may manifest in them simply trying to keep you entertained, happy, and healthy; it could also come in the form of them being a domestic doter, taking care of all your needs. Be it the former or the latter, there's an inherent adorableness that comes with their efforts and generosity, and in return, you have an urge to protect and care for them. They're just too precious for this world! It's a classic scenario: you walk into a BDSM club, and you get your BDSM on. We've all been there. It happens every day. And now with the pop culture influence of novels like Fifty Shades of Grey, there's a greater chance than ever that your character finds themselves in such a space.


What are the rules? How does it work? Well, upon entry, character and given a bracelet that designates them as either a Dominant or a submissive. From there, things are just like any other club experience! Meet new people, grab a few drinks, watch as someone does a live demonstration on spanking your submissive.

HOW TO PLAY
1. Drop a top-level with some prefs. Make sure to specify if your character is a Dom or a sub. They can be both, too! Maybe there's a special switch wristband?

The (possibly AU) Incest Meme

Incest is, despite its taboo nature in most societies, actually a pretty popular convention in both romantic fiction and works of a more erotic bent, in everything from period or fantasy pieces to series taking place in places like modern day Japan. Still, the most common configuration in these fictions are the pairing of siblings. Perhaps this is because of the usual lack of age difference and power dynamic that exists in child/adult relative pairings, though this is not always the case. Because of this, a sexual or romantic relationship between siblings can almost seem, well, romantic in the right light. Of course, more often than not, there's a dark side under the veneer of forbidden love.

This meme is for those who would like to play out that, either the darkness or the light - or both.

Haven't we put our characters through enough? Don't they deserve a break? Well, at Bakerstreet's Spa and Relaxation Center, they'll get the day off they deserve!

This place has everything: a sauna, massage tables, those pretty little crystals, a room filled with bubbles, incense and aromatherapy... And, in true Bakerstreet fashion, there are plenty of rooms where relaxation is mandatory — you know, hot rooms where the steam is actually some sort of body-relaxing aphrodisiac, as per usual.

Your character can't leave until they relax. We don't make the rules. So, they might as well undress to their level of comfort and stick some cucumbers over their eyes.

Sex is great and all, but have you ever reduced someone to a shell of their former self?

Through various means, this meme is all about getting into people's heads. The end goal of these mindfucks is up to the character, naturally. What is it that they want, anyway? To gaslight someone into doing their bidding? To wield ultimate power over someone else? Maybe they're just looking for love and going about it the wrong way, Misery style? Or, maybe they just want to hurt people.

Generally, these things take time, so expect a slowburn into despair with some of these prompts.

how to play

  • Comment with your character, your preferences, and how you'd like to go your torture. Break some bones, inflict some trauma, go nuts. Additionally, make sure to warn for content.

  • Send therapy bills in the mail.

  1. sensory deprivation - You know, you don't realize how much you rely on sight and sound until they're taken away from you...
  2. sleep deprivation - Sleep is so important! It would be a shame if someone prevented you from doing that with loud noises and spray bottles.
  3. electrostim - Zap zap.
  4. positioning - Keeping someone on their knees, or in a small, uncomfortable space for a long period of time is its own form of torture.
  5. non-con - A different kind of torture, but horrible nonetheless.
  6. picking / peeling - You remember that scene from Game of Thrones? The one where he pulls another person's skin off?
  7. dismemberment - You don't need ALL of your fingers, and there are tons of medical remedies for a missing foot these days.
  8. surgery - It may be experimental, but I hear some of those organs, you don't even need!
  9. water - Sleeping in water, waterboarding, using water as a punishment...
  10. nature - They've been bad, so it's time to leave them exposed to the elements. They can come inside once they've earned it.
  11. fire - Branding, burning, or even holding a flame near your victim's face without touching them... All fire-related things can get pretty hot.
  12. love taps - Little pokes and pricks might not seem like much, but over time, they can become enough to make you want to pull your hair out.
  13. hair - Shaving someone's head, or changing their physical appearance in a drastic way can go a long ways when it comes to depersonalization.
  14. scarring / tattooing - Not only is it painful; it's permanent.
  15. petifiy - Taking someone from a human to a pet might include leashes and collars, or making them act in an animalistic way.
  16. dehumanize - Real food is for real people. Eat from the trash, creature. 
  17. punishment - Something about chains and whips.
  18. mock execution - Aw, come on, bro. It's just a prank. The gun wasn't even loaded!
  19. tender touch - Between rounds of brutality, it doesn't hurt to butter them up with love and kisses. It keeps them on their toes, never sure of what to trust.
  20. writer's choice - Something we left out? Throw it in!

  1. kidnap / stockholm - Spend enough time around someone and eventually your spirit will be broken, am I right?
  2. gaslight - Sewing seeds of doubt until someone's left questioning their entire reality. What do you mean? That never happened!
  3. memory wipe - Through science or through magic, erase away all the memories you don't want them to have. If they don't remember, did it even happen?
  4. humiliation / shame - Take this one as you will. Public humiliation, private humiliation, humiliation in the bedroom... all of it can do a number on the psyche.
  5. against their will - They don't want to [insert horrible thing here], but you're not leaving them much of a choice.
  6. conditions - Everything could be so nice! All they have to do is follow your rules.
  7. renaming - It goes hand-in-hand with striping someone of their identity. That old name never suited you anyway.

THE DANCING MEME

There's so many reasons why people dance. For fun, for tradition, for community, for courting, for taunting your enemies. Maybe you're just friends, maybe you're having a father-daughter (or parent-child) dance, maybe you're dating or almost dating. Gen or shippy, either is fine, as long as you're dancing!

ONE. Spontaneous Dancing
You're doing something else, maybe out somewhere, maybe seemingly alone in your apartment when you just feel the urge. The song you're listening to is really catchy or you just got good news. Does the other person get invited? Join in on their own accord? Just watch? Is it a flash mob? Whatever the reason, you’re dancing now!

TWO. A Celebration
It's a wedding! Or maybe a festival, holiday, school dance, or birthday party. Point is, it's an occasion. There's music and a dance floor and no reason why not to let loose! Be is fast paced to the dj, slow dance with a partner, or traditional dance, it's all part of the celebration.

THREE. A Gala
It's not just any kind of event, it's fancy. There's probably someone pretty rich throwing it, and you better be dressed up nice. Chances are you're just as likely to be here dancing for business just as much pleasure. Maybe you're even here to steal something, or make political connections, or fundraise for charity. But dancing is part of the deal so take your partner's hand and lead them out on the dancefloor!

FOUR. Masquerade
Much like the gala, it's fancy. Or it could be a Halloween party. Either way, everyone is wearing some kind of costume and mask. Who is this mysterious person you're dancing with? A stranger? Friend? Enemy? Frememy? A mystery. Or perhaps not a mystery, but you can pretend!

FIVE. Clubbing
It's a bar or club or hey, maybe a sock hop, and you're here to have fun. Drinks optional, music loud, dance floor crowded. Be it with friends or a date, you're going to dance tonight. Feel the beat of the tambourine.

SIX. Performance
Ballet recital, music video, talent show, traditional ceremony -- you’re not just dancing, you’re dancing for an audience. Everyone’s eyes are on you and your partner, so let’s hope you don’t get stage fright!
