It could be an impending nuclear meltdown, or aliens, or a meteor on a collision course with Earth. You know this is coming, but everyone else in the world is blissfully ignorant. And why would you want to ruin their peace? It's better to let them be happy. Besides, you can pack a lot of shit in a couple of days. Toxins.  Something got into the air that wasn't supposed to. Spooky, scary mutations imminent.  The Unknown. Just because you can't see something doesn't mean it doesn't exist.
