by land, air, or sea: a waiting meme
You haven’t seen them for a while. You’ve been waiting for them to come home for what feels like forever, and you’ve finally gotten that call or letter. Or maybe you’re about to take your own journey—you’re leaving home for the first time or returning from a vacation without the lover you set off with, and your only company is the person waiting next to you at the train station. Travel would certainly be convenient if you could leave as soon as you were ready, but that’s almost never the case. You might as well make use of the company you have while you wait and make the best of things, alright?
to play;
1) post with your character, series, and any preferences
2) be good and respectful to each other!
3) tag around
Here are some prompts to help you get started, but you’re encouraged to make your own!
1. Train Station: You’re waiting at a crowded train station. Train travel is a lot of fun for some people, but it’s also not everyone’s cup of tea. Are you waiting to take that big trip, or are you waiting for someone to come back?
2. Airport: Waiting at the airport causes anxiety for a lot of people. Not everyone loves to fly; some are terrified by it. Are you getting ready to take a big trip, or are you waiting for someone you care about to come home?
3. Dock: Sea travel isn’t the most common way of traveling anymore, but there are still people who do it. Are you going to wave goodbye from the dock and wish a bon voyage, or are you waiting for your very first cruise?
4. Waiting for a loved one: You know the person you’re waiting for. Maybe it’s someone you care deeply about. Maybe it’s someone you don’t care deeply about anymore. Either way, you have to welcome them. Hopefully things go well.
5. Making new friends: You’re traveling alone, and there’s nothing wrong with that. Instead of turning up the volume on your iphone, why not talk to the people around you? You never know what you’ll learn.
6. Leave: You’re about to come home on military leave. You haven’t been home in a while—things are going to be different. Or maybe it’s shore leave instead, where you get to spend some time with your feet on the ground instead of the boat. Who knows what will happen?
7. Big Delay: You’re completely ready for everything, but an unfortunate delay has occurred. Maybe you’re stuck waiting for a train overnight now, or the plane you’re waiting for is grounded for an undetermined amount of time. Try to make the best of it.
8. Traveling together: You’ve made a new friend or come traveling with an old one, and you’re waiting to get on the plane, train, or boat and start your vacation. Or maybe you’re coming home, waiting to land or reach the shore.
