falling for doctor / falling for patient
an au meme

“Before she ran off and joined the circus, she was known as Dr. Harleen Quinzel, a psychiatrist at Arkham Asylum. She was assigned to The Clown himself. She thought she was curing him, but she was falling in love... Talk about a workplace romance gone wrong.”

As a patient, no one's ever listened to you the way they do. No one's ever made you feel heard, and valued, and understood. No one's ever listened to your tragic backstory and told you it was okay to cry. As for the doctor in this scenario, there's just something about this patient that makes your heart go out to them— in more ways than one. You like how much they trust you, how they make you feel needed. You might even be... falling for them.

Naturally, a situation like this is going to have its difficulties.

It's frowned upon, possibly illegal, for starters. Not to mention the ways that romance is sure to bungle any sort of impartial bias on the part of the doctor. You'll have to keep this all secret, under wraps. And, on the sketchier side of things. there's potential for abuses of power, or emotional manipulation. Having all those deep, dark secrets on hand could make for some great blackmail, should it ever come down to it.

...

Maybe you're better of keeping things professional.
