The One Who Isn't the One

You're lucky to have this person, and that's a fact. No matter what your attitude or acknowledgement towards them, they always seem to look out for you and your needs. From the very basics like making sure you take care of yourself, actually taking care of you when you don't, to the frills like giving you home-cooked meals or gifts, they give and give and give, never expecting anything in return regardless of whether or not you treat them equally well. Many people would kill to be with someone like that...

Oh, but maybe you're not exactly "with" them. You could not even think of them like that, despite or because of their unwavering kindness and despite what everyone else thinks. In contrast, you could know, in your heart of hearts, that you two are together; you're just not the type to say it or you don't think you have to confirm it with them. They should know, shouldn't they? Perhaps you should tell them, though. Worst of all, however, you could realize what a good thing you had when there's a new person in the picture, eyeing your kindhearted friend with romantic attention.

How to Play

  • Comment with your character, preference, what side you want to play, etc. Nothing fancy, just a little info.
  • Reply to others.
Prompts

  1. Actually a Couple: You can skip all the bullshit and just enjoy being cared for.
  2. Until Now: Huh, how have you never considered them as a romantic option? It seems obvious, in retrospect.
  3. Shouldn't Have to Say It: Why do they have to have confirmation? Don't you two have an unspoken agreement?
  4. Johnny Come Lately Jealousy: Uh oh. Looks like someone's honing in on your territory...but it's not yours.
